What Are Door Games?

Door games are multiplayer text-based games that ran on BBSes in the late '80s and '90s. You'd dial in, pick a game from the menu, and play a few turns each day. They were the original "daily login" games — before mobile games existed, before the web existed. We run ours on real DOS inside virtual machines, just like the old days.

The classic BBS RPG. Fight monsters in the forest, flirt at the inn, and try to slay the Red Dragon. Turn-based, daily-play, and absurdly charming. If you've never played a door game, start here.

TradeWars 2002

Interstellar trading, combat, and empire-building. Navigate a galaxy of sectors, trade goods between ports, build a fleet, and wage war against other traders. Deep strategy, persistent universe.

Barren Realms Elite

Multiplayer strategy where you manage a realm — build armies, attack neighbours, manage resources, and forge alliances. Think Civilization, but text-based and turn-limited.

Usurper

The terminal below connects directly to our game server. Create an account (or log in), pick a game from the menu, and play. Full ANSI graphics, no software to install.

How It Works

1. Connect

   Click "Connect" in the terminal above. You'll see the game server login screen.

2. Create an Account

   First time? Type new at the login prompt to create an account. Pick a handle and password.

3. Pick a Game

   You'll see the door games menu. Pick a game and play your turns. Most games are turn-based — play a few minutes each day.
